The Beaver Post
Located on Hwy 17 120 km. west of
Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada, this traditional style Trading Post
first opened for business in the spring of 1984. The Beaver Post
brings the past and the present together in a distinctive historic
atmosphere. Ever since it first opened The Beaver Post has had a
strong focus on authentic Canadian made goods such as Native Crafts,
Moccasins, Art, Clothing, Knives, Jewelry and gifts.
Prior to the opening of The Beaver Post
Gary Gartshore had owned and operated Algoma Arts and Crafts and the
Gartshore Gallery on Queen St., in Sault Ste Marie. During this
period in the early 1970’s Gary became friends with, and had
several art shows for Native Artist Norval Morrisseau. Having shows
at the Sault Public Library and later the Gartshore Gallery.
In 1993 The Beaver Post established and
operated the Fort William Trading Post at Old Fort William Historical
Park in Thunder Bay Ontario and operated it for 5 years.

The Beaver Post is also a dealer for
Toyo Stoves. The Toyo stoves are a highly efficiency direct-vent
heating system. The Toyo Stoves have been an important and economical
source of heat for homes, businesses inc. mining companies and First
Nation communities for over 40 years. In Canada they first became
popular in the Yukon, the Artic, and Northern BC. They are a leading
source of heat in Alaska and the northern US States.
